You must cite the memoir Redefining Realness and at least one other assigned reading. (I've provided the other source in the file attachment, "Controlling Images and Black Women's Oppression) When citing the readings, use basic MLA in-text parenthetical citation formatting: (Author’s last name, page number). For example, (Mock, 11). Essay Prompt In her memoir Redefining Realness, Janet Mock writes: “I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act” (xviii). In what ways is Mock’s personal account of her path to womanhood a “revolutionary” or “transformative” act for herself? How did reading her story and the stories of other gendered persons/groups transform your own understanding of gender (and its intersection with other vectors of difference such as sexuality, race, class, and immigration status)?
